Theoretical Modules

Within the theoretical modules the key issues for planners, architects and builders are to be found as an essential tool for professional thermal retrofit planning and realisation.

01 – Ecological retrofit concepts and economic approaches
Economic evaluation of individual factors in the rehabilitation process with the use of natural building and insulating materials, quality management and practical prevention of damage by means of practical examples.

02 – Building physics and assessment of the building's original status

Values of thermal insulation effect, acoustic and moisture protection and specific heat capacity are based on individual materials and products. This module deals with definitions of the values, understanding its purposes for the practical usage and examples for all criterias.

03 – Resources, Materials and Products

Basic information about insulation materials from renewable resources (e.g. straw, reed or hemp) as well as natural building materials (e.g. clay or lime plaster).

04 – Detail and Construction

Practical examples (case-studies) and installation comments adapted to meet the target-groups needs are supporting the module, that is highly focused on constructions. Primary level of the presented examples is implementation planning.

05 – Insulation Standards and Calculations

Building and construction based look onto relevant units to calculate a buidlings heating demand are main content of this module. As well, several critical aspects (e.g. ecological profile) can be evaluated within this overall building assessment.
