What is Tadelakt?

Tadelakt is a very special and fine lime plaster (highly hydraulic limestone) which is naturally present in the region of Marrakech. Several hundred years ago this cleaning technique was developed by the Berbers for sealing tanks, which were used for the storage of drinking water.
The still fresh lime plaster is compressed with a polished stone and high gloss
polished. Through constant rubbing with the stone and a post-treatment with olive oil soap
the lime responds and forms a watertight surface that remains permeable.
